North and South Korea have agreed to compete as a single team for the first time at the 2006 Asian Games and the 2008 Olympic Games.
"We had discussed to make a single team since we made joint marches in such international events for six times," said a spokesman for South Korea 's Olympic Committee.
"As our exchange in South and North Korea has been progressing, the mood was ripe for reaching such an agreement," he added.
