Berlin - The former German chancellor, Dr Helmut Kohl (70), yesterday attended a parliamentary group meeting of his opposition Christian Democrats for the first time since plunging the party into a crisis last year over illegal campaign funding.
Flashing a broad smile, Dr Kohl shook hands with deputies amid scattered applause as he took his seat among some 200 other CDU parliamentarians in a conference room at the Reichstag.
