An "early bird" air service between Knock Airport, Co Mayo, and Dublin is to become operational from the middle of next month. The route will be serviced seven days a week by a 36-seater aircraft with a flight time of 40 minutes.

Mr Cathal Duffy, chairman of the Knock Airport Board, said approval of the flights will be a major addition to the services available from the airport and region. The airline for the direct daily return flights will not be announced for several weeks.
