Racing: Officials at Killarney racecourse still hope to stage Wednesday's meeting despite the chase course being unfit for racing.

The hurdle and bumper track is still raceable, but an 8am inspection will be held on the morning of the fixture because of an unfavourable weather forecast.

“There was only one race on the chase course. The hurdle and bumper track is currently fit for racing but because of the weather pattern they have decided to hold an 8am inspection on Wednesday morning,” confirmed Irish Turf Club press officer Cliff Noone.

“It will probably be a six-race card and they are OK at the moment, though the going is heavy.”

The two-day meeting at Roscommon next Monday and Tuesday is already in doubt as the track is unraceable.

Officials will monitor conditions over the next few days before any decision is made.
