The jury in the case of a Co Mayo farmer accused of shooting dead a member of the Travelling community will retire tomorrow to consider its verdict.

Padraig Nally (61) of Funshinagh, Cross, Co Mayo denies murdering John Ward, Carrowbrowne Halting Site, Galway City, on October 14 th, 2004.

The jury at the Central Criminal Court, sitting in Castlebar, was told today by Mr Justice Paul Carney that they could either return a verdict of guilty of murder or not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter.
