Irish heavyweights miss out on final

Rowing:  The Irish men's heavyweight four missed out on the final of the World Championships in Eton today.

Cormac Folan, Sean O'Neill, Sean Casey and Alan Martin finished fifth in a hotly contested semi-final, which was won by the British crew.

Ireland will now contest the B final on Saturday morning.  Having finished 10th last year, the crew will be hoping to improve on that position.

The men's lightweight double sculls pairing of Tim Harnedy and Richard Coakley finished second in their semi-final which was won by China.

They now progress to tomorrow afternoon's D final where they will contest for 19th to 24th position.

Dubliner Sean Jacob goes in the C final of the heavyweight single sculls later today.
