Two men slashed in unprovoked attack on Dublin street

Four youths under 20 seen running from city centre area after midnight attack

Two men were beaten up and stabbed in what appears to be an unprovoked attack in Dublin city centre.

Four young men all thought to be under 20 years old were seen running from the area after the attack, which took place shortly before midnight on Friday.

The two men, thought to be in their 20s, were crossing from the corner of Fade and Drury Streets towards the Market Bar on Fade Street when the attack happened.

Both men were injured in the attack, with slash marks to the chest and arm.

Gardaí said the attack appeared to be unprovoked and random. The two men were taken to St James’s Hospital, where their condition was thought to be not life-threatening.

Gardaí at Pearse Street Station have appealed for witnesses to contact them on 01 6667000, or any Garda station.
