Michael Nolan named Transport Infrastructure Ireland chief

Michael Nolan has been named the first chief executive of Transport Infrastructure Ireland - a new merger between the National Roads Authority (NRA) and the Railway Procurement Agency (RPA).

Mr Nolan spent most of his career in the public service and has held a number of senior positions within the NRA over the last 13 years.

Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport Paschal Donohoe welcomed Mr Nolan's appointment .

“Having worked for many years in the NRA, Michael will bring a range of skills and a wealth of experience to this new role,” said Mr Donohoe. “The merged and streamlined body will represent the best of its parent organisations - the NRA and the RPA - and I have no doubt that Michael will harness the strengths of both to deliver maximum return on the State’s investment in transport in the years to come.”

The Minister extended his thanks to Fred Barry who has served as chief executive of the NRA for 10 years and Rory O’Connor who served as acting chief executive of the RPA from 2012.
