There is major traffic disruption on the northern end of the M50, following four separate incidents occurring at around the same time this evening.

Low sunlight and rainfall is thought to be responsible for the crashes at junctions six, five and four – Blanchardstown, Finglas and Ballymun – in the northbound lane and at Ballymun on the southbound lane.

The northbound carriageway is extremely slow with only limited traffic movement and a partial lane closure.

Gardai have said the incidents involved a number of vehicles but at this stage none of them are thought to be very serious.

Multiple incidents affecting traffic in this manner are unusual with driving conditions believed to be at fault.
