Los Angeles - Instead of reducing sentences on 10 Iranian Jews convicted of spying for Israel, Iran privately signalled it would free several during negotiations with Western diplomats, US-based Jewish sources said yesterday.
The sources said several of the Jews sentenced to between four and 13 years in prison had been expected to be released and others were to have their sentences reduced.
Instead, an Iranian appeals court on Thursday reduced the jail terms on all 10 Iranian Jews by between two and six years.
