Inquiry into Red Bull drink

A committee is to be set up by the Government to investigate Red Bull and other energy drinks

A committee is to be set up by the Government to investigate Red Bull and other energy drinks. A jury at a recent inquest into the death of an 18-yearold recommended research into stimulant drinks.

The committee will include the Ministers for Health and Justice. The inclusion of the Minister for Justice relates to separate concerns about an unsubstantiated link between energy drinks, alcohol, and violent behaviour.

The inquest into the death of Mr Ross Cooney heard there was no evidence that Red Bull was responsible, but he had drunk three cans on the day he died. He had also played basketball.

A statement from the Red Bull company said it was convinced its product was safe.
