An Irish showband singer, Angel, is to ask a judge to restrain an impresario from using her stage name to promote a rival singer.

Mr Mark de Blacam, barrister, told the Circuit Civil Court yesterday that Ms Suzanne "Angel" Brennan, of Green Isle Court, Clondalkin, Dublin, had built up a considerable reputation in the music industry as Angel.

She had been employed by Padraic O'Rourke Enterprises, of Lucan, Dublin, in 1986 and entered into partnership with Mr O'Rourke four years later.

Earlier this month a newspaper advertisement revealed Mr O'Rourke to be promoting another woman as Angel and Her Band. Judge Kieran O'Connor granted Ms Brennan leave to serve short notice on Padraic O'Rourke Enterprises informing the company she would seek to obtain an injunction restraining it from using her name in the new promotion.
