Green light for Tramore and Cheltenham

Racing:This afternoon's race meeting at Tramore has been given the go-ahead after a second inspection this morning. Parts of the Co Waterford track were still frozen during the initial 7.30am inspection but conditions improved enough through the morning for the seven-race card to get the all-clear.

Meanwhile, officials at Naas have called a 10am inspection for Saturday ahead of Sunday’s meeting after the track was found to be unraceable due to snow on Friday..

The big meeting at Cheltenham today also came through a second inspection after an earlier one found the course unraceable.

Today’s jumps meetings at Exeter and Fakenham have been abandoned following early morning inspections.

No problems have been reported at the other remaining card in Britain, the all-weather fixture at Southwell.

Prospects are mixed for tomorrow with Sandown and Folkestone calling early inspections.

Racing is not the only sport to suffer with the third round of the FA Cup subject to a raft of pitch inspections.
