Global bank HSBC said today its outlook remained "cautious" for 2005.

Global bank HSBC said today its outlook remained "cautious" for 2005.

"We remain cautious on the outlook. Having said that we remain strongly capitalised and strongly liquid to deal with any opportunities that may arise from that," Finance Director Douglas Flint told analysts.

London-based HSBC told investors on Friday that its first-quarter performance was in line with expectations despite worsening UK consumer credit quality.
