Gardai seize ecstasy worth ?5m during search of vehicle in Laois

Gardaí have intercepted €5 million worth of ecstasy which was destined for the Munster market

Gardaí have intercepted €5 million worth of ecstasy which was destined for the Munster market. The seizure was made at around 2 p.m. yesterday outside Mountrath, Co Laois.

The seizure was part of an ongoing operation into drug dealing in Munster by the Garda National Drugs Unit and the regional drugs unit in Cork. A 31-year-old man was stopped by gardaí while driving in the direction of Cork. The drugs haul was found during a search of the vehicle. The man, from Cork, was arrested and was being detained last night at Anglesea Garda station in the city.
