Gardaí in Dublin have arrested a man in connection a series of armed robberies in the south of the city during the last month.

Shops and petrol stations have been raided over the past two weeks in the southside of the capital.

The man, who is in his 20s, was arrested yesterday after gardai received information about a robbery at a Spar shop in South Dublin earlier that day.

Gardai searched his house in Churchtown, Rathfarnham and discovered two imitation firearms.

A Garda spokeswoman said the man was being questioned about the robberies under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act.
