A father and son died when their Citroen car collided with a van near Tobermore, Co Derry.
The father and son were named by police as Wilbert Ross senior and junior, aged 54 and 35.
One of the victims was killed at the scene and the other died later in hospital. The van driver was also taken for emergency treatment, but his condition is thought not to be life threatening.
Elsewhere, two other men died when their cars collided on the Moira Road near Lisburn, Co Down. Each of them had been driving their vehicles and no other people were involved in the accident at around 9.30 p.m.
