A man (50) and his two sons were attacked during an armed robbery last night at their home in north Belfast.

The man was hospitalised after being repeatedly struck on the head after a number of masked men - armed with a gun, knife and baton - broke into the family home at Greymount Parade, north Belfast, shortly before midnight.

His sons - one of whom is 15 - were assaulted while the gang made demands for the man to hand over money.

The house was ransacked, and the thieves made off with jewellery and cash.
