A family escaped injury today after a pipe bomb attack at their Co Antrim home.

A family escaped injury today after a pipe bomb attack at their Co Antrim home.

The device was thrown through the living room window of a property in the Dunvale area of Ballymena.

Police said a woman, son (22) and daughter (17) were in the house when it was targeted shortly before 1.30am.

Substantial damage was caused to the front of the house, and the living room ceiling. Detectives have yet to establish a motive.

In a separate incident, a house was badly damaged in the Lantara estate in the town. Police say they are treating the incident as suspicious.

There was nobody in the house at the time.
