A former Christian Brother facing 136 charges of sexual abuse was further remanded on bail when he appeared in Dublin District Court yesterday. Judge Con O'Leary said he wished to have time to read the book of evidence and remanded the man on £2,000 bail to May 13th. The 50-year-old former teacher, who is legally entitled to anonymity pending trial, was accused of abusing schoolboys between 1977 and 1990.
Most of the offences are alleged to have occurred in Co Waterford, with others in Dublin, Wicklow, Kildare and Cork.
The defence solicitor, Mr Dara Robinson, said no depositions were required or submissions to be made on the book of evidence, and the man would consent to a return for trial that day.
