Details of this year's ESB Vogler Spring Festival, which takes place at Drumcliffe church over the May bank holiday weekend, were announced this week.

The annual festival is part of a three-year Sligo residency by the Vogler Quartet from Berlin, a music development project funded by the local authorities, the Arts Council and Music Network, as well as other sponsors.

There will be concerts during this year's festival starting on Friday, May 3rd. Artists include the Vogler String Quartet, the Vienna Piano Trio, Czech mezzo soprano Dagmar Peckova, Russian pianist Alexander Melnikov and Irish violinist Catherine Leonard.

The programme includes new commissions and contemporary works as well as a selection of 20th century masterpieces and works from the classical and romantic eras.

A new work by Kevin O'Connell Piano Trio, commissioned by Music Network, will be performed by the Vienna Piano Trio. Commissioned by the festival, Stephen Gardner's string quartet May you live to you die will be performed by the Vogler Quartet on Monday at noon.
