St Patrick’s Day revellers can expect a cool, mainly dry day around the State this afternoon, with maximum temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees.

It will be a cold morning with frost in places at first, especially in parts of the east, and some mist and fog patches. This overcast weather is expected to clear and leave a mainly dry and bright day with sunny spells in places. There will also be some scattered showers throughout the afternoon.

St Patrick’s Day evening will be dry with clear spells and calm conditions. However, it will be misty with fog patches in many areas, and temperatures are expected to drop to below freezing.

Met Éireann has predicted outbreaks of frost in some areas with temperatures falling to between -1 to 2 degrees.

The dry, sunny weather is expected to continue into Wednesday with temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees.
