Elderly couple assaulted

A woman of 65 had a gun pushed into her face and was forced to listen as members of an armed gang subjected her husband to what the RUC described as a "savage" assault. The attack took place in their High Street home, on the edge of the Bogside area of Derry, late on Monday night. "The couple, who have lived in their High Street home for the last 30 years, were both taken to hospital," an RUC spokesman said.
