Fixed-line and Eircell mobile phone services in the midlands and the west were disrupted on Saturday after builders in Co Kildare accidentally cut through a trunk line.
The problem began when a mechanical digger working on a filling station in Kill cut through an Eircom line. There was severe disruption for over six hours until Eircom engineers repaired the break.
