UCC Public Science Forum: Continuing its series "Bringing Science to Society", the Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre (APC) at University College Cork presents Natural Solutions to Today's Medical Problems - the APC approach this evening from 7.30pm to 9pm in the Brookfield Health Sciences Complex, UCC, College Road, Cork.

Banking Information Pack for Schools

The European Central Bank (ECB), together with the national central banks of the euro area including the Central Bank and Financial Services Authority of Ireland, have developed a new information pack for schools entitled "Price Stability: why is it important for you?" . Aimed at junior cycle to transition year pupils and their teachers, the pack explains the monetary policy of the Euro system. Café Scientifique Public Meeting in Limerick

The monthly public meetings for Café Scientifique mid-west region in conjunction with Limerick Institute of Technology have found a new home for 2006 at Java's Café, Catherine St, Limerick. Café Scientifique is a place for people to explore the latest ideas in science and technology. On Thursday, January 26th at 7pm, Café Scientifique plays host to Dr Siobhán O'Sullivan, of the Irish Council for Bioethics, whose topic will be Stem Cells - Hope or Hype. Admission free. Franco-Irish Debating Competition

The annual Franco-Irish secondary school French debates, sponsored by the Ireland Fund of France, will take place this Friday, January 27th. In a departure from tradition, the debate will relocate from the Irish Cultural Centre in Paris to the Alliance Française in Kildare Street. The French team from the prestigious Lycée Fénelon Sainte-Marie will compete against an all-Ireland team comprising students who successfully participated in the national competition.

CDVEC Crumlin Campus Open Day

For anyone considering City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee (CDVEC) further education, the Crumlin Campus open day is an opportunity to find out more. The three CDVEC colleges in the Crumlin, Dublin 12 area - Pearse College, St Kevin's College and Crumlin College - are holding this joint open day on Wednesday, February 1st. UCC Law Department Seminar

To mark the appointment of Lord Anthony Lester QC as Adjunct Professor of Law at UCC, the university's law department is holding a seminar on the evening of Friday, February 3rd, which will explore the opportunities available for lawyers to use the European Convention on Human Rights in the Irish courts. Lord Lester will be joined by solicitor Michael Farrell, who, for many years, has raised human rights issues in the Irish courts. The aim of the seminar is to enhance awareness of the Convention within the legal community and to encourage its wider use.
