Calendar of dates until the end of CAO offer process

June 24th
Results of the HPAT assessment test for entry into undergraduate medicine are released to applicants.

July 1st ( 5.15pm)
The final date for change-of-mind options on all courses and/or order of preference on CAO applications for entry to college in September 2013.

July 4th
CAO will make over 6,000 offers to mature (including mature nursing/midwifery) and other non-standard applicants, ie those aged over 23 and those applicants who accepted and deferred their places in 2012. These offers will appear on the CAO website from 10am on July 5th.

July 11th (5.15 pm)
The closing date for receipt of acceptances for places offered to applicants on July 4th . Mature and deferred applicants away from their home address should ensure any offer received on July 4th is dealt with as the offer will lapse if not accepted by July 11th.
July 22nd
An exceptional closing date for students currently studying at a third-level college who may wish to drop out of their current course and reapply for a new list of choices through the CAO application process.

July 31st
CAO starts round zero offers. Over 2,000 places in higher certificate, ordinary degree and higher degree courses are offered to mature non-standard applicants or those presenting Fetac awards for consideration.

These offers will appear on the CAO website from 10am on August 1st.

August 8th (5.15 pm)
Closing date for receipt of acceptance of round zero offers.

August 14th
State Examinations Commission delivers Leaving Cert results to over 700 schools. They are available online at examinations.ie from noon.

August 19th
CAO releases round one offers to candidates online at 6am. Offer notices are sent by post to candidates, and will also arrive on August 19th. Minimum points required for entry to each course will be available on CAO website from 6am.

August 20th
Leaving Cert students who wish to view their examination scripts must complete application form and return it to their school by this date.

August 26th (5.15 pm)
This is the closing date for receipt of acceptance of CAO round one offers.
August 28th
CAO will post round two offer notices to applicants, to arrive by post on Thursday, August 29th. The minimum points required for entry to each course will also appear on the CAO website at 6am.

August 30th & 31st
Students, along with one other person of their choice, will have an opportunity to view their scripts in school on either or both of these dates. The scripts cannot be viewed by anyone unless the student is present.

September 4th (5.15 pm)
The closing date for receipt of acceptance of CAO round two offers. It is also the closing date for receipt of Leaving Cert appeal applications from those who want their papers remarked.

Mid-October
The release of the results of Leaving Certificate appeals by the SEC.

October 16th
CAO makes its final offers to students based on Leaving Cert appeals results.
