Cricket:Pembroke opening bowler Allan Eastwood has been called in to the Ireland senior squad for their Intercontinental Cup and one-day internationals against the Netherlands.

The 30-year-old from Ballyeigan in Offaly played in last week’s victory over the MCC at College Park and replaces Craig Young who has withdrawn due to a reoccurrence of his side injury picked up in that game.

Ireland tackle the Dutch at Rathmines from August 11th-14th in the four-day Intercontinental Cup, and in the RSA Series on Monday August 16th and Wednesday August 18th at Castle Avenue.

Meanwhile, Railway Union all-rounder Kenny Carroll has earned a recall to the international arena for Ireland A’s clash against Gloucestershire, which gets underway at Bristol on Monday.

The 27-year-old, who last played at senior team three years ago, has been in fine form for his club this year with both bat and ball. Carroll’s Railway team-mate Conor Mullen receives a call-up, while Instonians’ South African-born bowler Eugene Molean is the other new face in the 12-man squad.
