Taoiseach Bertie Ahern will meet SDLP Leader Mark Durkan in Dublin today to discuss the peace process in the aftermath of the killing of Belfast man Robert McCartney.

Mr Durkan said: "We will be reiterating that it is not enough to recycle flawed approaches and failed deals. . . . and the answer does not lie in new fudges or a divorce of convenience between Sinn Féin and the IRA.

"Neither are more increments of intent from the Provisional movement, for instance on policing, a substitute for the clear and complete change we need to see," he added.

The SDLP said the matters they will be bringing to the table included the measures necessary to create an atmosphere positive to restoring the Belfast Agreement.
