The Church of Ireland rector and the select vestry of Drumcree, Co Armagh, have issued a statement dissociating the parish from violent scenes during the Orange Order's protest at the church in July.

A statement last night said the Rev John Pickering and his select vestry were aware of the perception that Drumcree Parish Church carried a moral responsibility for events caused by unruly elements. These had exploited the legitimate peaceful protest after morning prayer.
