A man with no previous drug convictions received a ninemonth prison sentence yesterday for dealing heroin in the O'Connell Street area of Dublin.

Stephen Reid (18), of Roseglen Avenue, Kilbarrack, was convicted at Dublin District Court of having £120 worth of heroin for supply at Thomas Lane on June 27th last.

Imposing sentence, Judge Desmond Hogan said "the defendant and his ilk are the foot soldiers and pallbearers of misery to other people and the fact he has a habit himself is of little mitigation in my view".
