A trial jury was discharged yesterday and a new trial is set to begin today in the case of Mr John Diver, who denies the murder of his wife four years ago.
On the fifth day of the trial at the Central Criminal Court, the jury was discharged after one of the jurors became aware that his sister knew the accused. The juror told the court he was concerned he was too close to the case.
After legal argument, Mr Justice Patrick Smith discharged all the jurors. A retrial will start tomorrow before a new jury.
