A senior loyalist has said the death of a former UDA member does not appear to have been linked with the ongoing loyalist feud.

Mr Stephen McKeag, acquitted of the murder of a Catholic man in 1994 was found dead at his home in the lower Shankill area at 9 p.m. on Sunday. Neighbours raised the alarm after they noticed a crossbow bolt sticking out of the window.

Mr John White, the chairman of the Ulster Democratic Party which has links to the UDA, said that he did not believe Mr McKeag's death to have been carried out by the Ulster Volunteer Force
