Havana - A Cuban who claimed falsely to be an intelligence agent sent by Havana with 1,500 others, to spread communism in Venezuela, has asked for forgiveness in a letter to President Fidel Castro published yesterday.

"It's my duty to acknowledge the grave error I committed," Mr Juan Rosabal (37) wrote from Caracas to Dr Castro in a letter published in Cuban state media.
