Woman dies in Louth collision

Driver (35) recieved fatal injuries at Dunleer last night

Gardaí are investigating a two-car collision in which a woman (35) was killed in Co Louth.

The driver received fatal injuries when her car collidided with another car at Castletown, Dunleer at about 10.15pm last night. She was the only occupant of the car.

The driver and only occupant of the second car, a 35-year-old woman, was seriously injured. She was taken taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment.

The road is closed as the Garda foresnsic team examine the scene with diversions in place. AA Roadwatch is advising motorists travelling from Dunleer to Drogheda to divert via the M1 Dublin/Belfast Rd, while those wishing to access Dunleer from the Drogheda side to travel via Collon.
