Three arrested following seizure of 72,000 ecstasy tablets

MDMA believed to have street value of €720,000

A woman and two men have been arrested following the seizure of 72,000 Ecstasy (MDMA) tablets with an approximate street value of €720,000 as part of an investigation targeting suspected drug traffickers.

The drugs were seized on June 30th at a number of north and south inner city locations in the Dublin area by officers of Revenue’s customs service and gardaí from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau assisted by local Garda Drug Units.

The two men, aged 42 and 43, and the woman (46), are being detained at Store Street and Kevin Street Garda stations under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, and can be held for up to seven days.

The two search operations which led to the drug seizures used advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks.
