Police appeal for information after armed robbery

Man carrying silver semi-automatic handgun stole money and cigarettes from shop

Detectives in Larne are appealing for information about an armed robbery at a shop in Carrickfergus on Friday evening.

At about 5.30pm, a male described as being around six feet tall, slim/medium build, wearing a black balaclava, black bomber jacket, light blue jeans and dark blue canvass trainers with a white sole entered the store.

He was carrying a red bag and produced a silver semi-automatic type handgun before demanding money and cigarettes.

The male then made off from the shop with a small amount of cash and some cigarettes on foot and at speed along Prince William Way.

He turned down the side of Carrickfergus Leisure Centre, before crossing the bridge and passing through the tunnel heading in the direction of McKeens Green.
