Man for court over Tallaght robbery

Security worker threatened and cash taken after cash-in-transit van targeted

A man will appear in court this morning charged in connection with a robbery on a cash-in-transit van in west Dublin on Monday.

The man, who is in his 20s, had been questioned at Tallaght Garda station.

Two men, one armed with a shotgun, and another armed with a weapon confronted a security worker as he was making a cash collection in Tallaght at about 1pm on Monday.

A third man remained in the car and they escaped with a sum of money in a silver Avensis which went in the direction of Allenton Estate.

The car was later recovered in Allenton. There were no injuries or shots discharged, gardaí said.

A quantity of cash stained with dye was later recoverd hidden in shopping bags in the garden of a house.
