Man arrested over ‘fake’ Justin Bieber and Adele tickets

Police in Strabane investigating alleged scam say tickets sold in group of four online

Police in Northern Ireland have arrested a man over an alleged scam involving the sale of fake tickets for upcoming Adele and Justin Bieber concerts.

Detectives in Strabane who are looking into what the PSNI described as an “internet scam” interviewed and bailed the man pending further inquiries.

The tickets were for an Adele concert taking place in Belfast and a Justin Bieber gig taking place in Dublin.

Police said the tickets were offered in a group of four from the Gumtree website and that a subsequent face to face transaction took place involving the exchange of money for fake tickets.

“As part of this ongoing investigation we want to ensure that we identify as many people as possible who may have been victims of this fraud,” PSNI Detective Inspector Lindsey Kitson said.

“I want to hear from anyone who has bought tickets for these concerts from a man after seeing an offer on Gumtree for those tickets. We believe these tickets are fake.”
