Man arrested after cocaine valued at €1.4m seized at Dublin Port

Gardaí and Revenue customs officals made discovery when refrigerated unit searched

A man has been arrested after cocaine worth an estimated €1.4 million, was seized at Dublin Port.

Gardaí investigating transnational organised crime and Revenue customs officers discovered 20kg of the drug on Saturday after a lorry was stopped and its refrigerated unit was searched.

“Laddie the Customs Dog located 20kgs of cocaine concealed within the unit. The drugs with an estimated value of €1.4million (analysis pending) were subsequently seized,” a Garda spokesman said.

“One male aged 22 years was arrested in relation to drug trafficking offences. He is currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act 1996 at Blanchardstown Garda station.”
