Four men are due in court in Longford after gardaí seized cannabis plants worth an estimated €94,000 at a house in Granard.
Members of the Roscommon-Longford drug unit, assisted by gardaí from Granard searched the house at Dalystown yesterday, a Garda spokesman said.
It was part of an ongoing operation into the sale and supply of controlled substances in the Longford area.
Some 118 plants were seized, along with cannabis herb worth an estimated €20,000.
Four men, two aged 33 and two aged 28 and 29, were arrested and taken to Roscommon, Longford and Granard stations.
All four were charged in connection with the drug seizure and will appear before Longford District Court this morning.
“These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks,” the Garda spokesman said.
“ Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.”
