Dublin pub shooting suspect to appear in court

A man in his 30s arrested in connection with a shooting at a pub in Dublin last Monday in which a man was injured is due to appear in court tomorrow.

The alleged gunman was arrested on Wednesday after the incident, which occurred at about 1am both inside the pub in Sallynoggin and in its car park.

A 45-year-old man who works as a security guard in the pub was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was treated for pellet wounds.

Gardai immediately launched a public appeal for witnesses and the scene was sealed off for technical examination.

The suspect, who is being held at Dun Laoghaire garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice tomorrow morning.

It is understood he acted alone.

Gardai had appealed in particular for a taxi driver who may have picked him up in the vicinity to come forward.
