Julian Cuddihy remanded while receiving treatment

A man charged with the murder of his parents has been remanded in custody in his absence.

Julian Cuddihy (42), of Churchtown, Carndonagh, Donegal, was unable to attend court because he is receiving treatment.

He was due to appear before Harristown District Court in Co Roscommon, which is adjacent to Castlerea Prison.

He is charged with the murder of his parents Jimmy (77) and Kathleen (73) Cuddihy at the family home in Carndonagh on or around October 22th of this year.

Mr Cuddihy has been in custody at Castlrea since he was remanded at a sitting of Ballyshannon District Court on October 24th.

At that sitting, Judge Kevin Kilraine asked that Mr Cuddihy be psychologically assessed as soon as possible.

Judge Geoffrey Browne remanded Mr Cuddihy in custody to appear before Harristown District Court on December 12th.
