44-year-old arrested after aggravated burglary

A 44-year-old man has been arrested after a man was assaulted during the course of a robbery in his home in Edgeworthstown Co Longford yesterday.

Three men broke into the house shortly after midday, assaulted the man, locked him in a toilet and stole property. The man was the only person in the house.

He managed to free himself and alert gardaí. He was taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar where he was treated for minor injuries.

The 44-year-old was arrested in the Edgeworthstown area and is being held at Granard garda station.
