Community groups stressed yesterday that the new social partnership talks were not just about pay.

Ms Frances Byrne, a spokeswoman for the Community Platform, said they would be highlighting the fact that many people were left behind by the Celtic Tiger, some through poverty and others through social, educational and gender inequality. The group represents 26 organisations in the community and voluntary sector and will be a party to the talks. They want to narrow the gap between rich and poor.
