FORMER BOXING world champion Steve Collins is to face a retrial later this year at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on a charge of assaulting a bouncer at the National Stadium two years ago.
Mr Collins (44), St Albans, Hertfordshire, England, is denying he assaulted Albanian national Adriatik Vodo (37), when he was refused entry at the stadium on June 3rd, 2006.
A jury failed to agree on a verdict on the same charge after a six-day trial and four hours of deliberation last November.
Seán Gillane, prosecuting, asked for a new trial date later this year which Judge Katherine Delahunt set for October, remanding Mr Collins on continuing bail until then.
