With Market Rasen already claimed by frost on Sunday, Carlisle had pinned their hopes on an 8am inspection.

However, clerk of the course Jonnie Fenwicke-Clennell was forced to take an earlier look after temperatures dropped well below freezing overnight.

He said: "We have abandoned. We went down to minus five last night and it's still minus four at the moment. The Met Office predicts a maximum temperature of one degree and that's at 3pm, so the frost is not going to come out."

Lingfield continue to fly the flag on the all-weather but Tuesday's fixtures are already subject to checks. Staff at Sedgefield have covered a large amount of the track in a bid to beat the weather, but clerk of the course Charlie Moore will still have to take a look at 3pm today.
