In Co Galway, two adults and a young child were killed and two people seriously injured in a two-car collision near Athenry last night. The collision occurred on the Athenry-Craughwell road shortly after 7.30pm.

In Co Longford, a nine-year-old girl died yesterday evening when the vehicle in which she was a passenger overturned. The single-vehicle incident happened at Cloonturk, on the Longford to Kilashee Road. The driver and another passenger were taken to hospital but are not believed to be seriously injured.

A 22-year-old pedestrian was killed when he was hit by a car in Co Longford yesterday morning. The incident happened just after 2am at Carrickboy. The victim, who was from the county, died at the scene.
