Athletics: Dwain Chambers has been cleared by UK Athletics to compete at tomorrow's Norwich Union British Grand Prix at Gateshead.

Chambers will make his return to competition after a two-year suspension for using the designer drug tetrahydrogestrinone (THG) ended in November.

The International Association of Athletics Federations had insisted the European 100metres champion repay the money he earned during the period he was cheating - which by his own admission extended back to early 2002.

The world governing body announced yesterday Chambers had paid up, and the 28-year-old was awaiting clearance from UK Athletics.

His return will see him face joint 100m world-record holder Asafa Powell and former world champion Kim Collins at the IAAF Super Grand Prix meeting in Gateshead.
