In a separate category, Castletown also scooped the award for Tidiest Village for 2002. Other winners included Lismore, Co Waterford, for Tidiest Small Town, and Ennis, Co Clare, for Tidiest Large Town.

Regional awards were presented to Castletown, Co Laois, for Tidiest Town in the Mid-East; Glenties, Co Donegal for the North-West; Ennis, Co Clare, for the Shannon Region; Lismore, Co Waterford, for the South-East; Rathbarry, Co Cork, in the South-West; and Keadue, Co Roscommon, for the Western Region.

The winners were announced at an awards ceremony in Dublin Castle this morning.
