A man who claimed he and his father had suffered violent attacks by anti-social elements in their neighbourhood, has fully settled his High Court action against Dublin City Council.
John Paul Hyland (29) claimed he had to leave his rented council home at Hazelcroft Road, Finglas, Dublin, for private rented accommodation following a litany of attacks in 2008 and 2009.
Mr Hyland, who is his father’s full-time carer, had claimed that since he took over the tenancy of the house from his late mother in 2006, he had been subjected to verbal and physical assaults from people who congregated outside his corner-site three-bed home.
The action was adjourned to yesterday when Ms Justice Mary Laffoy was told by lawyers for Mr Hyland that the matter had been fully settled. The council denied his claims.
